Femininity: Let’s Celebrate!

by Rosalyn C. Raveche In a school where most of the teachers are female, women’s empowerment is truly evident! This is true in RVES. In fact, on March 22, 2024, we celebrated Women’s Month differently. Instead of having seminars, each grade level presented a short video showing empowered women whom they know. The videos showcased the different aspects of how a woman is empowered. The different stories presented imparted inspirations and examples for all of us. Aside from the presentation of each grade level, Barangay Captain Vivian A. Duatin of Barangay 200 also graced the program by sharing her own story. The whole activity displays women’s empowerment.

Induction Program for Beginning Teachers (IPBT)

by Loida L. Rongcales Starting at a new school can be just as overwhelming for new teachers as it is for new students.  While it’s exciting for new staff to envision the year, it can also be overwhelming. The new things they need to learn range from information systems to HR to curriculum. Developing a solid teacher induction program can ease the transition for new staff, giving them the time, support and relationships, they need to thrive. Induction is an umbrella in RVES for the supports put in place to assist teachers in adapting to a new workplace culture. A stand-alone program before the school year should be a priority to support most immediate needs, followed by continued work throughout the first year. Induction goes beyond understanding students, classes and curriculum. Information about the systems and processes that guide the workplace, as well as school norms, are integral for teachers to settle in and feel confident; however, it’s important to keep in mind the pace at which this is done. RVES’ 1st IPBT Completers are Ms. Liezl S. Villena and Mr. Jomar Raz with the supervision of our dear school head Dr. Tirso V. Gali. IPBT of Department of Education is a systematic and comprehensive professional development program for beginning teachers with 0 to 3 years of teaching experience that has been developed to improve their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values (KSAVs), and increase their confidence in teaching to make them effective and efficient teachers who nurture the potentials, abilities and talents of every learner.
